It shows you two types of risk

  • Actual Risk: This is the risk based on your equity and shows the risk from the current rate to the stop loss.

Total Portfolio Risk

Besides the risk of the current graph, it also shows the overall risk of all open trades.

Short trade USD/JPY 1.

Here is an example of a short trade on the USD/JPY. We went short (green dotted line) and set our stop loss above the previous high (red dotted line).

If the stop loss will be hit, we could lose -0,34% of our balance (see Initial Risk).

Fortunately, the trade goes in the right direction and we are in profit (+0,35%). Since we can now lose our open profit, the Actual Risk increased to -0.77%.

Short trade USD/JPY 2.

When we drag our stop loss to our entry level, the Risk Monitor imidiately recalculates the risk.

The Initial Risk drops to 0,00%. This means we can't lose on this trade anymore.

The only thing we could lose now is our open profit. As we have just moved the stop loss to break even, the Actual Risk has been declined to -0.42%.

Short trade USD/JPY 3.

Time to lock some profits!

When we drag our stop loss below our entry level, we see the Initial Risk become positive (+0,33%). This means that we can only win on this trade. Once the stop loss gets hit, the account balance will increase by +0.33%

In this example, we are now risking only -0.11% of our Equity (see Actual Risk).
